National COVID-19 Guidance   For up to date government guidelines

Age is used to define vulnerability because of the data and the history of COVID-19

Anyone seventy and over is clinically vulnerable. Clinically Extremely Vulnerable refers to health conditions

See here for more details on classifications.

The country comes out of the second lockdown on December 2nd

From Wednesday 2nd, our area will be classified as Tier 2 which is High Alert due to the a higher or rapidly rising level of  infections, where some additional restrictions need to be in place. Vulnerable people can accept help. See more on the help that can be received  here

You can  Review current local COVID-19 advice here by typing in your postcode to discover the current alert level for your exact area and review the government advice.

We have taken an extract for you here for our general area and we are available for a chat any time.  High Alert means:

    • you must not socialise with anyone you do not live with or who is not in your support bubble in any indoor setting, whether at home or in a public place
    •  ‘rule of 6’ you must not socialise in a group of more than 6 people outside, including in a garden or a public space
    • businesses and venues can continue to operate, in a COVID-Securemanner, other than those which remain closed by law, such as nightclubs
    • pubs and bars must close, unless operating as restaurants. Hospitality venues can only serve alcohol with substantial meals
    • hospitality businesses selling food or drink for consumption on their premises have limited opening hours and table service if they serve alcohol

General information

Carers Oxfordshire has built a national reputation for reaching and supporting carers in innovative ways.

Pippa Kelly  is an award-winning blogger, journalist and author. She writes regularly in the national press and specialist publications about dementia, with which her mother lived for a decade, and elderly care issues. Pippa is an inspirational public speaker.

We have kind permission of both Pippa and Carers Oxfordshire to share  Pippa’s talk  about the long distance caring she shared with her siblings. This frank and personal account offers support as well as good advice on Continuing care allowance, Power of Attorney and in home care.  Pippa talks about  guilt, frustration and exhaustion as she moved her parents from their family home and into a ‘more suitable flat’ How they did it and how it made her feel.  At the time Seniors Helping Seniors was not available in her parents town but happily we have now opened in Surrey (December 2017)!
